What’s in my Gym Bag?

I always pack the same things in my gym bag each morning, but when I first started going to the gym, I spent a lot of time figuring out what belonged in my bag, adding and removing items over the course of a couple weeks until I figured out what I needed and what I could do without. What skincare did I need to bring for the shower after my workout? What hair products did I really need to bring with me everyday? What snacks did I need to pack with me, or should I just eat when I get home? I had so many simple questions that I answered for myself after some trial and error... Here is exactly what I bring with me to the gym everyday:

Water Bottle
Gym Membership Card
Runners
Headphones
Hair Elastic
Towel
Face cloth
Body wash
Face wash
Facial Serum
Facial Moisturizer
Concealer
Mascara
Travel-Sized Dry Shampoo
Change of clothes: Jeans, Socks, Underwear, Bra, Shirt
Flip Flops (to wear in the shower)
Post Workout Snack 

Looking at this list, I think “good gracious, that is a lot of stuff to bring for one workout.” But to be honest, most of it fits in a travel sized makeup bag. The most cumbersome items are the running shoes and my change of clothes. I keep my toiletries and makeup in a small bag inside my gym bag, so I never have to search around looking for my moisturizer before I leave the house. The only things I need to switch out every day and remember to bring, are my change of clothes, towels, water bottle, and my post-workout snack - everything else has a permanent home in my gym bag.

I’ll  also address the fact that yes, I do bring mascara to the gym with me; I go to the gym in the morning, makeup-free, so after my post-workout shower, I swipe on some mascara. There is nothing quite like the feeling of confidence after a solid workout, and adding a quick swipe of mascara makes me feel like I’m ready to take on the world.
