Healthy Ways to Flavour Coffee without Sugar or Cream


I drink my coffee black, but it hasn’t always been that way... I used to drink a triple triple, and needed heaps of sugar and cream before I could possibly enjoy drinking my coffee. It took some practice to train myself to like black coffee, and during that process, I learned a lot of ways to make a coffee taste great without cream or sugar. Here are a few of my simple coffee hacks to enjoy a healthy coffee at home.



Switch Out the Cream
The first thing I switched out when I wanted to start drinking black coffee, was the dairy. I started drinking my coffee with Almond Milk or Cashew Milk instead, which are both great low-calorie, low-fat, dairy-free alternatives to cream. You can even make your own almond milk or cashew milk at home, which allows you to adjust the consistency to your liking, so you can enjoy a creamier addition to your coffee. 


Add Cinnamon.
Adding a Sprinkle of Cinnamon to your coffee gives it a little something extra and steps your morning brew up a notch. You can add a sprinkle right into the grounds before brewing, or for a stronger cinnamon flavour, sprinkle it on your coffee once it is in your cup. 


Add Vanilla.
Even though it is bitter on its own, adding a drop of vanilla extract to your coffee will help enhance the natural sweetness of your coffee. 


Switch out the sweeteners
Can’t curb the sugar? If you still need the extra added sweetness in your coffee, try adding natural Maple Syrup or Agave Syrup to your coffee instead of refined sugar. 


Try This:
In your cup of coffee, stir in a teaspoon of maple syrup.
Add a splash of Cashew Milk.
Top with a pinch of Cinnamon.
