Glutes Exercises to do From Home

Looking for a workout that targets your butt? Try incorporating some of these simple exercises into your routine to workout your behind - your glutes are the biggest muscle in your body after all, and strong glutes do much more for your body than just look good!

The other day I tried on a pair of high-rise jeans and my first thought was "I need to do more squats."  I know squats aren't the only exercise that targets glute muscles, but it has got to be one of the best. That being said, there a many other great exercises that work those booty muscles too. If you go to the gym, you can find some machines that will work those muscles; but if you don't go to the gym, don't worry, you are not out of luck - there are plenty of great exercises you can do from the comfort of your own home (or basically anywhere) to see great results and a firm butt.

Here are six great booty-building exercises that target your glutes:



Squats
There are so many variations of squats that you can do at home: body weight squats, goblet squats, sumo squats, plie squats, just to name a few.




Donkey Kicks
Donkey kicks are done from your hands and knees, kicking one leg back at a time, pointing your foot towards the ceiling. Squeeze your glutes and hold for a couple seconds before bringing your leg down.




Lunges
When doing a lunge, keep your chest forward and your body upright. Take a large step forward and bend your front knee at a 90' angle so your knee if right above your ankle. 





Bridge
Laying on your back with bent knees and your hands by your sides,  lift your butt off the ground. Squeeze your glutes at the top and hold for a few seconds before coming back down. 




Step-up
Using a stable and trustworthy chair or bench, step up onto the chair with one foot. 





Stairs
Walking up and down stairs is great for your glute muscles, and good cardio too. Make a point of squeezing your glute muscles each step to make the most of your workout. If you do go to the gym, there are also stair climber machines that simulate flights of stairs, which is a great exercise machine for cardio and building your glute muscles.
