Overnight Oats Recipes

Overnight oats are a great way to enjoy a healthy, hearty breakfast with little work. These are especially handy for people who are off to work first thing in the morning and need to grab their breakfast and go. Simply mix together all of the ingredients in a container, and set it in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, give the oats a stir and they're ready to eat. 

It took me some time to wrap my head around this idea before I was brave enough to try it... I had always had my oatmeal cooked with hot water, so the idea of uncooked oats just seemed unfathomable. I researched many recipes before I tried it myself to make sure there was indeed no cooking involved, and it's true: you just place the oats in the fridge with the remaining ingredients, and leave them overnight - hence the name, Overnight Oats. 

There are probably tens of thousands of overnight oats recipes out there, but these are a few of my favorites that I have made for my family over the past few years. You'll notice that I use the same basic recipe for each one, then simply add different flavor ingredients and sweeteners to this base (with the exception of the orange oats which I substitute some of the milk for orange juice). 

Base Recipe:
1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 Cup Non-Dairy Milk 
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seed
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds

For a creamier texture, you can add 1/4 cup of plain or vanilla yogurt to any of the recipes as well. 




Here are my six favorite overnight oat recipes:



Carrot Cake Overnight Oats
1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 Cup Non-dairy Milk
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1/4 Cup Grated Carrots
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 Cup Vanilla Yogurt (optional)



Chocolate Coconut Overnight Oats

1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 Cup Non-dairy Milk
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 Tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup
1/4 Cup Vanilla Yogurt (optional)



Chocolate Orange Overnight Oats

1/3 Cup Oats
1/4 Cup Non-dairy Milk
1/4 Cup Orange Juice
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 Tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup
1/4 Cup Vanilla Yogurt (optional)



Maple and Brown Sugar Overnight Oats

1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 Cup Non-dairy Milk
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1/4 Cup Vanilla Yogurt (optional)



Sugar and Spice Overnight Oats

1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 Cup Non-dairy Milk
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 Cup Vanilla Yogurt (optional)



Chocolate Raspberry Overnight Oats

1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 Cup Non-dairy Milk
1 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1/4 Cup Raspberries
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1/4 Cup Vanilla Yogurt (optional)
